Encumbrance

This performance was a contemplation on the relationship between one’s body and clothing, in particular, some of the forces that surround the production, circulation, consumption, and ownership of garments. I am also considering the ways our bodies are identified with clothing and how this helps construct our identities, shapes desires and tastes.

Created and Produced by Johannes Zits with the assistances of Holly Timpener

Performed by Johannes Zits, Holly Timpener, Enok Ripley and Tess Martens.

Running time 90 minutes

It was premiered at SummerWorks 2019 where it won the People's Choice Award.
