No Object

No Object is a multi-generational group of artists that produce performances in empty spaces without any objects, costume or any clothing. Working from this minimalist aesthetics, the group is continuing to challenge itself with a focus on the potential of the body. Sympathy, empathy, trust, gaining strength and energy from the group are important components to the work. This practice requires us to be in the moment, being conscious of each other and being aware of our bodies in relationship to others and our surroundings.

HOLD

Performed January 29, 2016
A six-hour performance with Adam Filek, lo bil, John Paul Ricco, Holly Timpener, and Johannes Zits
We HOLD a position, maintain close contact, supporting tensions that move between the periphery and the core. HOLD is a focused course of action, a direction that evolves over time. HOLD is to reserve a time and place for others, distributing individual weight across our collective mass, surrendering vulnerabilities, and activating presence. In this time of technological mediation we charge ourselves.”

Thinking Ahead & Staying Together

Performed April 26, 2016
A two-hour performance with Adam Filek, lo bil, Branda Dale, Holly Timpener, and Johannes Zits
This piece was crated with the intention of trying to anticipate the next move of the group while trying to stay together as a group. Predicting the future is difficult, doing it as a group is even more challenging.

Open Studio

Performed May 18, 2016
A three-hour performance with Adam Filek, lo bil, David Frankovich, Branda Dale, Holly Timpener, and Johannes Zits
This performance grew out of "Thinking Ahead & Staying Together". We added a walk across the the room and a mad run afterwards as a counter point to that particular work.

In the Water

Performed August 9, 2016
A three-hour performance with Adam Filek, Branda Dale, David Frankovich, Holly Timpener, and Johannes Zits
This performance arose out of an invitation by Teresa Ascencao, who organized the Naked State artist residency and Stéphane Deschenes, owner of the Bare Oaks Naturist Park near Sharon, Ontario. Our time in this performance was spent going between the beach and the diving platform in the middle of the lake.

Specious Present

Performed November 3, 2016
A three and a half hours performance with Adam Filek, lo bil, David Frankovich, Branda Dale, Holly Timpener, and Johannes Zits

“Specious Present” was coined by William James as “the short duration of which we are immediately and incessantly sensible.”  No Object proposes a future imaginary wherein our embodiment affects the social landscape. By intuiting the collective direction within our group, then noticing what impulses direct us when we are on our own, we develop a sense of connection and agency in the external world.
For this performance we will be alternating between two states. In the first state we will be in close contact with one another, naked bodies in a sculptural form that gently transform in a small area. At unspecified times we burst out from our cluster, scattering throughout the space. We find each other again by an intuitive and sensory consideration of what is around us, as we fluctuate between an internal awareness and an external sense of necessity.
